The CEO of Under Armour, Kevin Plank, revealed that ultimate goal of the company is to outsell their apparel category with their shoe sales. They have the confidence that Under Armour can go in and take every shoe category by five to ten percent.
In other Under Armour news, the ex-husband of the former View co-host, Star Jones, has been named as one of the newest endorsers of the brand. Al Reynolds is preparing for his role of official endorser starting with the 2008 summer line. It seems to be quite the interesting choice as Al Reynolds is the first non sports star to endorse an Under Armour line.
When it comes to choosing a running shoe, here are a few tips.
First of all, it is not always the most expensive shoe that is the best shoe. Although we don’t know the price range yet for the new Under Armour shoe line, we can hope that they fall into a reasonable price point for most consumers. Most importantly to choosing a shoe is how you will be using it. Are you going to be on the road, doing running on trails in the woods, are you looking to gain the most amount of speed with your shoe? Start with this important factor and go from there.
Another important tip is that you will feel a different fit from brand to brand. Resign yourself to trying on lots of different shoes. Try focusing on one brand at a time and then switching to another so you can see the difference in the fit. When shopping for athletic shoes, try to not let yourself be too influenced by the salesperson. They know the basics of the shoe line, but I doubt they have had a chance to try on all the shoes themselves. When shopping for shoes I like to talk to several different salespeople and get their opinions. If possible, try to find a salesperson that actually wears the type of shoes you are thinking of buying and find out their experience with them. Salespeople that work in shoe stores probably get a discount and are able to buy and wear many more pairs of shoes than you and I.
It will be interesting to see how Under Armour pairs their new shoe line with their current brand of clothing. They orginally created a clothing line with items meant to be worn underneath uniforms but like so many clothing companies, they found they could expand into the greater clothing market and moved into clothing that can be worn day to day.
One cool thing about the comapny is that many solders in the US military wear their moisture wicking clothing to give them some relief in the very hot climates in which they serve.
