Alicia Sacramone at 20 years old is heading for the Beijing 2008 Olympics as part of the United States Gymnastics Team. Unusual in this day and age of sending young girls that are barely teenagers to represent American gymnastics. Of course I’m being optimistic in assuming that she will attend the 2008 Olympics as her spot on the team is not guaranteed, like everyone on the American gymnastics team she needs to earn it.

Alicia Sacramone has an amazing round of medal collecting in the last few years including seven medals acquired a the last three world meets which included receiving a medal for vault each year and receiving the ultimate award of the gold medal for her floor routine.

When it comes to all American gymnastics you don’t find them like Sacramone often. At her age she is able to inspire and motivate her younger teammates in a way that a younger gymnast might not be able to do. After one such passionate speech to her teammates she went out and nailed her routine delivering to her hands the first team gold medal that the all American gymnasts received at an overseas global meet.

American gymnastics are the desire of many a young girl and lead to many families seeking out a gymnastic training center close to their home. Where I live I’m fortunate to have such a gymnastic training center almost in my back yard. One day it would be great to see a winner produced that we can all be proud of in American gymnastics.

With my optimistic forward thinking view of the Beijing 2008 Olympics I’m sure that we will be seeing Alicia Sacramone and many others representing us well in the American gymnastics portion.
