Pictures of a 6 year old holding a handgun were taken on a cell phone which led to the arrest of a Toby Allen currently residing in Florida. This is why we need gun safes, not only to protect children but to keep adults from acting like idiots.

Apparently Toby Allen has a long criminal history and with his bright mind decided it would be funny to make a 6 year old girl hold the handgun and point it straight at the camera. Not only did he take the picture of the girl but he also took pictures of himself holding an assault rifle. Wow, what a smart guy. I know plenty of smart gun owners that keep their guns locked up in their gun safes, but this guy doesn’t seem to fit in with that crowd.

Not only did Toby Allen take pictures of the 6 year old holding the hand gun and of himself holding the rifle, but he did it on a cell phone that was stolen from the owner of a company that he worked for. Are you starting to put the pieces together?

The main thing people should know if they are going to be gun owner is that they have a responsibility for putting all guns in a safe place, preferably a gun safe. Please don’t think that just using trigger locks or cable locks will be helpful especially in an emergency situation. Gun safes can be much more accessible and come with many options that allow varying levels of access. You will need to do your homework before deciding on the gun safe that is the best option for you and your home.

Remember that your goal is to keep any sort of thief in your home from wanting to spend time trying to open your gun safe, make it complicated for them so that they will move on to other items and your weapons will remain secure in the gun safe and won’t cause a danger to you, your family or other people.

It just frustrates me that weapons are so easily available especially to idiots like this Toby Allen guy who told the police that he thought it looked funny and cool to take the pictures of the little girl holding the handgun. Fortunately he has been arrested and his inability to have a few brain cells in his head have resulted in him being charged as a felon in possession of a weapon. Hopefully Toby Allen will have time to sit in prison and think about his misdeeds for a good long while and maybe this will be a reminder that all gun owners should have gun safes and should secure their weapons at all times.
